DUKE LACROSSE PLAYERS SEEK A LAWSUIT

RAPE CASE

With the former prosecutor spending a day in jail for his handling of the case, the three lacrosse players are seeking a settlement with the city of $30 million dollars and some changes in the way the police handle such cases in the future. Such changes are:

An oversight of the police department by an independent commission, stricter procedures and videotaping of witness identifications conducted by the police, and the passage of a City Council resolution calling on the state to establish ombudsmen for district attorney’s offices and require the transcription of grand jury proceedings.

Hopefully with these changes, the next DA can't go on another witch hunt to solve a crime.
