MAN WITH RARE FORM OF TB HOSPITALIZED

QUARANTINED

The Center of Disease Control are asking anyone who flew on two transatlantic flights with one particular man, to be examine for a drug resistant form of tuberculosis. The man flew out of Atlanta to Paris and 12 days later, after learning he had a very dangerous form of teburculosis called XDR-TB, flew back, going from the Czech Capital of Prague to Montreal, Canada. From there, he drove to NYC to Bellvue hospital. There he met with CDC officals that flew him on their plane back to Atlanta. When the CDC found out that he had the XDR strain of TB, they ordered him quarantined. It's the first Government issued quarantine since a smallpox patient was ordered quarantined in 1963.

ROSIE LEAVES THE VIEW EARLY

ODONNELL

The powers that be at ABC wanted to do something to raise the ratings of their womens' talk show, so the hired Rosie ODonnell and got more then they bargained for. From the time she started on the show, she started mouthing off about Donald Trump and his new bride, then about his hair, anything to keep a contraversy going. And now she claims that its the American troops in Iraq are terrorist??? Maybe she needs to go live in Iraq and see what it's like to live one day after another, not knowing if its your last. Maybe someone needs to take her food from her and let her see what its like to not know where your next meal is coming from. Maybe after she's lost 100 pounds, she might feel empathy for the needy. MAYBE.

CHINA SEEKING EXTRADITION TREATY

TREATY

This is a strange case, a communist country seeking to establish extradition treaties with western countries to have expatriates sent back to China, even those opposed to the death penalty. Many of those that they might be seeking are those who escaped China after the Tiananmen Square uprising of 1989. Plus, any others seeking to escape the communist country. They don't want to buy goods from the west but they want western countries to help return decedents who refuse to return on their own.

INSPECTORS TOLD TO LIE BY SUPERIORS

INSPECTORS

Agricultural inspectors at Miami's International airport were told to lie about inspecting incoming passengers carry ons for contraband fruit and plant items to keep out insidious insects and plants that would compete with native plants for survival.

But, also by not inspecting passengers bags, it put our nation's security on the line. Those inspectors might not have found the contraband they were looking for, but the might have caught someone carrying weapons or explosives. I know that going through every passengers bags takes time and backs things up, but better to be safe than sorry.

BODY FOUND IN SCHOOL'S VENT

BODY

A body of a man was found on the roof, wedged in a vent pipe. It was discovered after several complaints about a bad odor in the cafiteria. A plumber was called and he found the body.

Some of the kids went home, others ate their lunch in the library. The school will have psychologists on hand when the school reopens Tuesday. The police think that the man was attempting to break into the school when he got stuck in the vent pipe. No one is quite sure how long the body was in the pipe, but long enough to start to smell.

TALES FROM THE NURSING HOME, CON'T

Karen Y said...

Say it ain't so! You a stinky fella?? All this time I thought you were full of only sweet. Now I know what you are full of! hehehe

LOL, hey now, I'm not full of anything. Even if I am brown eyed. LOL. As for being stinky, I do wash what I can without help, but just like tonight, we are very short handed on two sections, so they say all they can do is "dry and turns." In other words, change those who need it and make sure they are turned from one side to the other every two hours. Although they never turn me every two hours.

MAN GET LIFE FOR MURDER, CON'T

This dude is a idiot he deserves to buried UNDER the Jail
Didn't this happen like a year or so ago??

Yeah, it happened over a year ago but the man just stood trial. And I agree, he should be buried under the jail.

MORE TALES FROM THE NURSING HOME

As I've mentioned before, most of the work done here is by CNAs or Certified Nursing Assistants. Sometimes I wonder how they ever got certified. I have one today, who I've had several times before. It's a wonder she finds her way to work. This CNA doesn't know how to open a catheter bag to empty it. Then she stares at the urinal as if it was digital and is going to show her the amount in it. She comes to me saying she's going to take my temperature and can I put it under my tongue. I'm so tempted to tell her I could put it somewhere else too. She doesn't know how to do blood pressures. It takes her three tries to get mine. By then my arm is sore. Then she TELLS me that she is going to check my breathing. Anyone who knows me will know what happens next. I hold my breath while she tries to count how many times a breathe a minute. She also had to document how much fluid I take in, so she will ask what I've had to drink. Now we get our teas in clear glasses with no measurements on the side, but she will stare at the glass trying to figure out how much it holds. Oh, and she comes in my room in the mornings, seeing me and denise eating and ask if we are done. THEN, later she will come back and by then we have pushed the table aside and working on the computer and she asks if we are done. DUH

This one CNA had two residents who wanted up at the same time and she was no where to be found. Several times that day, the head nurse had to page her to the desk because no one could find her.

And this is the kind of people that are here to take care of us. God help us!!!!

OIL COMPANIES USE BIO-FUELS AS THREAT

OIL PRICES

Oil companies will probably remain high because of the increased interest in bio-fuels. Because of the increased use of hybrid car, demand is down

POLITICS AND JUSTICE

FIRINGS

An aide to Attorney General Gonzales testified that she did consider applicant's, for lower level positions, political beliefs. Monica M Goodling, who became Gonzales' aide, was hired in 2002 while she worked as an opposition researcher. She started as a junior staff member in the press office, to move up to Gonzales' personal assistant with power to hire and fire. Don't you think that the fact she was definitely working for the Republicans made a difference in hiring her? So, why not expect her to hire those who supported the Republicans when it came to hiring Federal Prosecutors? Even the President considers a person's political opinions when nominating people for Federal Benches. Although a person's politics shouldn't matter when it comes to justice, but it does. Lady justice may be blindfolded, but her ears are definitely open.

MAN GET LIFE FOR MURDER

LAWN LOVING MAN

A 67 yr old Ohio man shot and killed a 15 yr old boy crossed the man's meticulously cared for lawn, coming back from a friend's house. The man has confronted the teen earlier in the day when the boy crossed the yard on the way to his friends house. The man then went into his house and got his 410 shotgun, loaded and waited for the boy to return. When he did, the man shot and killed him.

IMMIGRATION BILL

ILLEGALS

Congress has agreed to some provisions on the immigration bill. They still are talking about a guest worker program that will allow Mexicans to come work in the US as a guest worker if they go back to Mexico for a year between visas. Those visas could be two to three yrs in length.

One of the detractors of the bill is Sen. Byron Dorgan, D-N.D. ''It is just a fiction that these are jobs Americans aren't willing to do,'' Dorgan said. ''The main reason that big corporations want a guest worker program is that it will drive down U.S. wages.''

I don't see many people lining up to clean toilets or work out in the hot sun gathering vegetables or fruits. Our produce supply happens because of the "guest workers" who are willing to work in the hot sun for little pay. Now if there were a lot of other Americans willing to get out in the hot sun and do that kind of work for that kind of pay, then they should be out there. If not then they need to stop complaining about foreigners coming here and taking jobs away from Americans.

TALES FROM THE NURSING HOME

karen said...

Can't you just ask for some soapy wash clothes and wet ones and bathe yourself without Help?

i did that when I was laid up in the Hospital -worked wonders

karen-

I do have who ever is working with me that night to set me up for a bath and I wash what I can, but then I want them to get the rest. It's much easier for me to bath in a tub, but I can't until my wounds to heal.

Speaking about this place, the laundry is backed up, so each section is short on sheets. That's another reason for not getting baths, not enough washcloths and towels. They can't keep a laundry crew. We are lucky that we get our clothes back. And tonight, just like most nights, Section one is short staffed, so they pull one of OUR cna's to go work on their sectionk, leaving us short. But then Section 2 doesn't matter.

MIGRAINES CON'T

karen said...

I am on the replax right now and seems to be working for now for my Migraines.

I might need to go back to narcotic's but hopefully the replax will continue to work

That was what the article was saying, that many of those suffering with migraines don't need to be on the narcotics because the other meds work better without the chance of addiction or other major side effects. I know one of my cousins was using sumatriptan back when it was still being injected. It stopped a migraine in mid-attack, but it would put her to sleep for about an hour. When she woke up, she had that fog state that mirgaine suffers have after an attack.

CELEBRITY JUSTICE CON'T

Anonymous said...

Justice is a poor blind lady, and one oughtn't make fun of handicapped people, as you should well know! Besides; Justice is actually a dirty old man who's into bondage... that "lady" was a girlfriend, and he just couldn't figure out the ball-gag. Paris and Lindsey get away because the do really cute vids for Internet consumption! Justice isn't. Period.

That's just it, if they were just average citizens, they would have to serve their full sentence. But, because they are celebrities, they get special treatment. There wouldn't have been a 2nd or third time being pulled over for driving without a license. And, who goes to their publicist for legal advice? But she's blonde so what can you expect?

TALES FROM THE NURSING HOME

I finally got a CNA to give me a bath tonight. And suprisingly, it was one who has avoided giving me a bath in the past couple of nights. And suprisingly, we seem to be fully staffed on this section tonight, or at least at the moment. I'm not sure what is happening on section one. I hope Denise got her bath tonight.

NOISY SUMMER

CICADAS

The Midwest will be in for a noisy summer because the 17 year cicadas will be emerging from the burrows this year. There are two types of cicadas, one that the larva emerges every seven years to shed the skins to become an adult cicada, also know as a jar fly. The other species stays a larva for 17 years because emerging to become an adult. For some reason, the 17 year cicadas make more noise a night then the 7 year one.

MIRGRAINE MEDS

WRONG MEDS

A recent survey showed that migraine patients and doctors who treat them most of the time turn to less effective, more addictive narcotic medications to treat migraines that the more effective, less adictive class. This class is called Triptans and include such medications as Amerge, Axert, Frova, Imitrex, Maxalt, Relpax, and Zomig.

CELEBRITY JUSTICE???

QUESTION OF JUSTICE

The fact that Lindsay Lohan skated on the theft charge is not much different than Paris Hilton getting time knocked off her sentence for good behavior. I thought that occurred AFTER you're jailed, not before.

PARIS

Paris Hilton was supposed to serve 45 days in jail for violating her probation. She had been previously arrested for DUI and her license was suspended, but she claims her lawyer told it was okay for her to drive with a suspended license. But because she's famous, she won't serve the full 45 day, but just 23, and she won't be in General Population but in Segregation for her protection. But it she has been just a regular citizen, she would have to serve the full sentence in the General Population and would have to fend for herself.

I thought Lady Justice wears a blindfold to show egual justice under the law. It appears there are some holes in that blindfold.

VIOLENCE RISES IN JAPAN

FATHER PUTS BABY IN MICROWAVE OVEN

BABY IN MICROWAVE

A man in Galvestan, TX in charged with puting his baby girl in a microwave oven because he was frustated with taking care of her. The mother was picking up supper at a local restarant and wasn't present at the time of the incident. If convicted, he could get up to 99 years. The baby survived the 15-20 seconds she was in there but no one knows what the long term effects will be.

OIL PRICES

SKY HIGH

Exon, the largest oil company is already posting 1st quarter profits over 3 billion dollars. If they have that kind of money after paying for drilling, pumping, refining and transportation, they could invest those profits into producing ethanol. But no, the oil companies have taken over where tobacco once was.

OUT SOURCING

OVERSEAS JOBS

Today, most call center jobs are overseas. Even when you call to find out about your credit cards or other information, you're talking to an operator in India. Here we have many who need jobs but they would rather send jobs to other countries.

OIL PRICES

GOUGING

Oil prices are going to go through the roof again, even though American oil companies claim there are no shortage in supply. It's odd that when ever something big comes up in Congress, oil prices shoot up. It's like a smoke screen to take people's mind of gas prices. If you drive a diesel car, there are kits you can buy that you can use to turn used cooking oil from fast food restaurants and covert it to diesel. Its one way to recycle used cooking oil.

IMMIGRATION

IMMIGRATION

I don't think that illegal Mexicans should get their citizenship any faster than those who come here the right way and go through the Naturalzation process. They have to be able to speak the language, be able to learn American History, Civics and other important information to be able to adapt to living here. They should adapt to our ways, not us to their ways.

MUNITIONS FOUND ON BEACH

Munitions have been discovered on the beaches of Surf City, NJ. Some date back to WW I. In an attempt to widen the beaches, the Army Corps of Engineers had been dredging sand from the sea floor a few miles from shore. This sand contains ordinances from as far back as the first World War. When the beaches open back up for the public, there well be signs that there will be no metal detectors allowed on the beach and no digging further than a foot down for fear of finding other pieces of muntions.

TALES FROM THE NURSING HOME

To add more about how things are around here, we have to send our clothes to laundry unless we have family close enough to take our laundry home and wash it. The problem with sending them to laundry here is that they might not come back, even though our clothes are labeled. I've had pants to be gone as long as week before I got them back. And here they lose clothes. But instead of finding a way to prevent that from happening, they would rather go spend money replacing lost items. Not a profitable way to run things.

And again is another night of being short staffed. Lucky for me I've already had my bath for tonight. I don't know about how the other residents will fair.

FALWELL IS DEAD

FALWELL

Jerry Falwell, the religous leader who founded the moral majority in the 1980s and a very polarizing individual has passed away. Falwell always seemed to be in the middle of controversial issues. He even attacked kids shows like Teletubbies and Spongebob Square pants. He claimed one of the Teletubbies, Tinki-Winki, was gay because he carries a bag around. He also claimed that Sponge Bob Square pants is gay because he hangs around with Patrick Star, the starfish. But anyone who has actually watched Spongebob, and yes I do, they know that Spongebob has a girlfriend, Sandy Squirrel. Falwell couldn't find any real person to attack, so he took on cartoons and kid shows. He even had the nerve to say that they 9/11 attacks were because the US tolerates gays, people who have abortions and other ideas he didn't like. With him gone there won't be anyone to come up with these crazy ideas.

NURSING HOMES

I started this on another blog but for some reason, I can't log back onto it. I'm in a nursing home getting treatment for pressure sores, the consequences of being confined to a wheelchair most of your life. I didn't want to go into a nursing home because of the stories I've heard about those places, but my doctor decided that a nursing home was much better than the home healthcare I had been using and much cheaper than a full fledged hospital.

But, sometimes the care here isn't as great as it should be. Espeically since alot of those here can't speak up for themselves. As I said before, the units or sections are run by LPN's instead of RN's like they do in hospitals. Besides, I thought LPN's can't dispense medications, but here they do.

Hopefully, once my w0unds are healed, I can leave this place and live on my own again.
