DEMOCRATS GIVE BUSH ADMINISTRATION MORE POWER

DOMESTIC SPYING

A Democratic Congress passed a bill that gives more power to the Bush Administration than they sought. It allows searches without warrants and allows the collection of business records. Under this new legislation, the FBI can collect the business records of a business here in the US if they suspect that the business is connected to someone outside the US.
As for wiretapping, the new law allows them to do what is called a "trap and trace." They can randomly "trap" certain phone calls, then trace them to identify calling patterns of those here in the US.
